IPL Photofacial

IPL Photofacial

IPL, or intense pulse light, is similar to laser technology. IPL uses bright light instead of a single wavelength of light, which is used with a laser. The filters placed in front of the light filter out most wavelengths except those used by pigments and blood vessels. The light energy penetrates just under the skin’s surface, causing damage to the melanin (pigment of the skin) or the blood vessels. It is then removed by the body’s natural skin repair mechanisms, resulting in smoother skin. A major advantage of IPL treatments is that they typically have a very minimum amount of downtime. There may be a slight darkening of pigment before the pigment lightens. IPL can be used to treat the face, neck, chest, and back of hands.

IPL Photofacial treatment includes:

Pigmentation (age spots)

Sun damaged skin

Spider veins (telangiectasias)

Blush and facial redness

Small blood vessels

Skin rejuvenation

IPL is a cosmetic procedure that enhances the skin’s texture by using intense pulsed light. A variety of wavelengths are used in IPL therapy to treat pigmentation and vascular changes in the skin.

Those with tanned or white skin are the best candidates for IPL. This type of treatment is appropriate for people with blotchy or discolored skin or for those who have been sunburned.

While some results can be seen after just one session, it may take three to five sessions to achieve the desired outcomes.

Treatments with IPL usually last between six and twelve months. To prolong your results, you should undergo maintenance treatments every six to twelve months.
